Ms. Makonnen is Chief Financial Officer of Beijing PMHS Asia Pacific Hotel Management Co, Ltd. Inc. recently promoted from Corporate Controller’s position in US, bringing more than twenty seven years of hotel financial management experience. She brings to PMHS experience from several major brands including Starwood, Swissôtel, Adam’s Mark and Marriott. Ms. Makonnen’s assignments have included hotels from as small as 300 rooms to large hotels with over 1,800 rooms.
She provides expertise and oversight on financial statement preparation, implementation and enforcement of controls and SOPs, balance sheet reconciliation and internal audits of managed hotels. Ms. Makonnen has significant experience and expertise in due diligence of hotel acquisitions as well as the knowledge and ability to oversee the opening of new hotels.
She is a strong leader who is able to recruit, train and retain a professional staff of accountants both on property and at corporate headquarters. She ensures that the centralized accounting department provides support to the hotels on all financial matters.
She holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Texas A&M University and she is an active member of the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals Association.
