H. Wesley Schwandt is President of BPGS Construction, a full-service
Construction Management company with offices in Wilmington, Delaware
and Washington, D.C. The primary function of BPGS is to oversee
all construction related activities for Buccini/Pollin Group, Buccini/Pollin
Real Estate Services, and BPG Residential Services.
Services provided by BPGS include program management, design management,
design build, construction management, and general contracting.
In the past 8 years, BPGS has managed construction activity worth
in excess of $650 million. This includes over 2,050 hotel rooms
(thirteen hotels), over 1.5 million sq. ft of office, industrial,
and retail space (14 buildings), and three multi-story parking garages.
In addition, as of the second quarter of 2005, BPGS has one new
hotel under construction representing 300 rooms, a $55 million office
tower, and a $96 million residential development project on the
waterfront in Wilmington, Delaware.
Mr. Schwandt brings his individual focus to each project undertaken.
Once a Project Management Staff is assigned, Mr. Schwandt maintains
his leadership role throughout the process, attending project meetings
with ownership, designers, and the end user through the completion
of the project. With the use of Prolog, internally customized controls,
and formal communication, the BPGS Staff is able to manage the quality
of productivity, schedule, and budget within the parameters of the
developed project program.
Prior to joining BPG and founding BPGS in early 1998, Mr. Schwandt
spent eight years with Bancroft Construction Company (BCC), a full
service CM/GC firm in Wilmington, Delaware. While Mr. Schwandt was
with BCC, previously the states third largest construction firm,
he held positions as Senior Estimator and Project Manager, before
becoming Vice President.
Mr. Schwandt’s community activities include: a member of
the Board of Directors for Preservation Delaware, Inc., the statewide
nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of Delaware’s
irreplaceable architectural heritage and historical settings.
Mr. Schwandt received his Bachelor of Science degree from Lehigh
University’s school of Business and Economics, with concentrations
in law and architecture.
